One of my very first jobs in media was at the Tribune Company placing during the waning days of classified ads. People would call in wanting to sell their lawn mower or tennis racket, but rather than put it on some newfangled internet thing like Craigslist, wanted to put it in the dang newspaper! And hey, I was. happy to help. It paid $12 an hour with no benefits, but it was located in the historic Tribune Tower, and as someone who eventually wanted to work in the world of media, I thought that was pretty freaking cool.
