I'm just one of the hundreds of thousand subscribers who have left the WaPo. The paper keep surging me to resubscribe and while I was tempted at times the latest revelation of Bezos' influenze and control makes that a deal breaker.
Same boat here. I do still catch Post Reports and their recent sales pitches talking about the people who work at the Post nearly worked on me. But clearly they're continuing the actions that made me leave in the first place
I'd like to hear more about all these "anti-free-market" opinion pieces the WaPo was supposedly publishing before this announcement, so I can go read those authors in other, better publications.
It's not the most insulting part of all of this, but as someone who's worked in journalism for 15+ years, I find Bezos' whole "we" language so damn insulting. He talks like he's been in the news business and entrenched in journalism for decades when he just bought his way into it like he buys his way into everything else. Him finger-wagging about what news and journalism is and isn't just drives me up the wall. They not like us.
As with the NYT op-ed section undermining the publication's credibility as a whole, the sad part is that good reporting done by WaPo is going to go unread by all the people (I hope) who are canceling their subscriptions.
If there's a silver lining, though, it's that people who give a damn will find newsletters like this and support independent content creators. My frustration with legacy media led me here as well as to HEATED and Popular Information, and I'm grateful for it.
"This is the fundamental problem with billionaire-owned media."
Well, when 30,000 coastal liberals threw up their next resistance tantrum and cancel their subscriptions because the owner of the paper decides to stop with the practice of endorsing presidential candidates, it becomes clear that the paper needs to do in another direction to attract different subscribers. Why would anyone want a long-term relationship with such emotionally disordered people?
But thankfully there is always BlueSky for your leftist echo chamber.
That's THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND subscribers who canceled their subscriptions, not THIRTY THOUSAND. See the difference? Because if you don't, I'd like to buy your house for what I would pay for a car.
But don't be fooled, the problem here isn't that Frank is bad at math, this is like Elon Musk reporting an $8 MILLION cut as $8 BILLION. Frank knows basic math, he lopped off that zero because he's a fucking liar, and that's what liars do.
You must be a hoot at family get togethers correcting all your siblings and cousins for their incorrect utterances... or maybe they don't invite you... and maybe you are an only child.
I have worked with people with your wiring and they ended up working for me and then I generally had to fire them for their lack of critical thinking ability.
I fair people that pursue some useless pursuit of granular perfection at the expense of the good. In my long corporate career your type is the worst type of employee. A professional critic lacking any creative skills, lacking big picture critical thinking capability, and thinks he is some pseudo God grading everyone else's papers.
We need to round you all up and put you all on an Island called "Karen Uptopia".
C'mon, you can say it, even Elon Musk can admit when he's wrong, follow his example.
BTW, remember "$50 million in condoms for Gaza"? Your hero Elon admitted that was a lie, I remember you citing that here as a reason why we needed to starve kids in refugee camps in the Sudan. Can you admit now that you had that wrong too?
No Stevie. I am not wrong a lot. I am wrong sometimes and admit when I am wrong and don't have my self-worth tired up in wasteful BS. I know your type, and you lack of personal and professional success, unless lucky with rich mommy and daddy, is directly related to this deficient behavior of yours.
What fun with the guys at the bar with you and your Karen ways correcting every little incorrect statements. I am sure those guys will make sure to ditch you at every chance.
But look at you working so hard getting the details right and being wrong about everything big.
Oh, also "Elon Musk is going to spend $40 million for ads on the Superbowl to expose the CRIMINALITY IN USAID. Remember that one? Because I sure do. You posted it right here, so here would be a good place for another "Sorry, I was wrong."
You are my subordinate. That has been made clear here. My coaching might help you, but then again you seem to be pretty far down the path of having a higher opinion of yourself than reality.

In favor of free markets. So against monopolies, and in favor of antitrust enforcement, right? Right? *confused Padme face*

Democracy dies in the shadowy darkness cast by piles and piles of cash
This is going to test what's left of consumer choice and free speech, but we need a mass movement urging everyone to cancel Amazon Prime.
They'll be using LLMs to write articles within three months and laying off reporters by the handful.
Bye-bye WaPo. It was good to know you when.
"Free markets" is going to mean tariffs?
If King Shit says so, yes.
Trump threatens to sue media after Wall Street Journal editorial criticizes tariffs:

You've been warned, Jeff.

The insults come pouring out, like squid ink.
Also, that's a VERY roundabout way to say "I fire people who point out my mistakes."
Hahaha that's so funny, great catch

It will have internet access, and you will still suffer us. As you are always saying, it's the only reason you hang out here.
Also, what does it mean to fair people.
Wow, that really got under your skin, didn't it?
You have never been employed, as your Linkedin shows.
He bought the other two-hundred seventy grand of subscriptions to make up the shortfall, so Frank's math is correct.
LOL. Well you just strengthened my argument. You are so excited to win a fact point that you cannot see the forest for all the trees.
So you were wrong, Frank? Is that what you're saying?
C'mon, you can say it, even Elon Musk can admit when he's wrong, follow his example.

Yes Stevie, I wrote 30,000 instead of 300,000. So I was wrong. But you are a loser.
You're wrong a lot, have you noticed that? Ever wonder why? No, of course you haven't.
No Stevie. I am not wrong a lot. I am wrong sometimes and admit when I am wrong and don't have my self-worth tired up in wasteful BS. I know your type, and you lack of personal and professional success, unless lucky with rich mommy and daddy, is directly related to this deficient behavior of yours.

We're gonna get a retraction on that "$50 million for condoms for Gaza" too, right? C'mon, man, you're on a roll!
Good job, Frank! Baby steps...
You are my subordinate. That has been made clear here. My coaching might help you, but then again you seem to be pretty far down the path of having a higher opinion of yourself than reality.
Democrat political strategy after spending billions and still being crushed in the elections:
DO MORE OF THE SAME. RESIST MORE. GO MORE WOKE. PROTEST MORE. SCREAM MORE. CALL WORKING CLASS PEOPLE RACIST, MISOGYNIST NAZIS… BUT DO IT MORE.
AND WE NEED THE WAPO, NYT, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, AP, THE ATLANTIC, ETC... AS OUR BULLHORN FOR OUR SCREAMING AND WAILING!
Yeah, that will work.
You can touch the stove if you prefer, Frank.
THESE LIBERALS WHO LIVE IN MY HEAD WON'T STOP SHOUTING
Nothing works except a relaxing evening at home polishing the guns.
