Hello, and welcome to The Present Age’s December to Remember Happy Honda-Days uh… first post of December!

To start the month, I’ve unlocked last year’s series of posts I did about the “War on Christmas,” its not-so-shockingly antisemitic origins (see: Henry Ford), and why conservative media outlets push the “the left is trying to abolish Christmas!” narrative every single year.

You can find those (as well as some artificial intelligence-generated images of Santa fighting this war) below!

But first, I’d like to take a moment to say that The Present Age is a 100% reader-supported publication. If you like my work, please consider subscribing (free or paid), and please share these posts wherever you can. Thanks!

Part 1:

The Present Age
This week's theme: The War on Christmas
I love Christmas. I really do. Not necessarily in a religious kind of way, but certainly in a “let’s all reflect on the past year by sitting around a fire with family even though these memories of Christmases past are almost certainly overly romanticized versions of reality” kind of way…

Love these “Santa goes to war images! If only I could get get them on Christmas… I mean holiday cards.

I do think one thing that has changed is the sheer level of victimhood that you find among white conservatives and evangelical Christians. Fox News pushes these stories because there’s a market for them.

I hear more and more ordinary people (generally older white and Christian) talking about it. In fact it’s rare to encounter a white Evangelical Christian who doesn’t at some point say they feel oppressed and discriminated against. They’re generally short on details of how this oppression actually happens but they seem to really believe it.
