I hope at some point before the end of his run Colbert tells Bari Weiss and other new CBS decision-making hires what he really thinks about them. In the meantime, his jabs at Brendan Carr and Trump are well taken. Thanks as always for covering these matters and for reminding everyone of CBS' pattern of behavior for context.
There's been some talk of "The Streisand Effect" and how this "backfired" because Talarico got a lot of attention and campaign donations. But you're right, Ellison and Brendan Carr can tolerate that because they know Colbert will be gone soon and the next host won't dare.
I do wonder how this works Post-Trump (there will be a Post-Trump, right? Please reassure me there will). Does this same deference get extended to Republicans generally and forever? Or does it all get reversed once a Democrat gets in the White House? Just because guys like Ellison will hop to it and break stuff because Trump wants it doesn't mean they'll be so quick to fix the stuff they broke once a Democrat is appointing FCC Commissioners. Seems Democrats just don't strike the same level of fear in the hearts of our CEOs.
Thank you so much for what you’re doing; as depressing as it is; you’re recording the erosion of the “public sphere” in real time

As you noted, "Good for him. I mean that. But he leaves in May. And then it’s just CBS."
Nah. At that point, it'll just be BS.
And at that point, CBS & Paramount as a whole should be shunned in their entirety.
Hell, as it is, I now block out most of what they do with the exception of a few local CBS stations and Scott MacFarlane. And of course, Colbert.
But otherwise? F*** 'em. And anyone worth a sh** in media should do the same.
Treat them like the trash their execs have chosen to be.
