"Fox eventually walked the whole thing back... By then the story had done its job."

Yep, that's how it works. Jeanine Pirro holds a press conference to announce the indictment - on felony charges! - of a former Olympian who TOUCHED THE WATER and she doesn't give a shit if three grand juries in a row refuse to go along, or if the whole thing gets laughed out of court before she even gets that far. They got the headline they wanted, "Man indicted for vandalism of reflecting pool", they can trust their audience to hold on to that one thing for the rest of their lives and never inquire what happens afterward.

Just trigger the stupidest 30% of Americans with the sensationalistic headline, they'll take it from there.

I remember a very similar freakout about a very similar request in Cali a few years ago (I wanna say LA?)- the grid started to seriously buckle, the power company or government put out a 'please turn off any excess appliances, maybe only AC one room' request, and... people did, the power stayed on, and it was a massive blackout that wasn't.

Marked difference from the Texas approach of 'let the grid fail and tell anyone who can't afford to fly to Cancun until it gets fixed fend for themselves.'

What's that Margaret Thatcher quote? "There is no society", something like that.

Any effort by people to work cooperatively, to recognize we're not just atomized individuals is clearly SOCIALISM.

And I'm fine if they want to define Socialism like that. Sure, we're for cooperation and people looking out for one another. Come at me with that one, bro.

Why is the left's response everything they do this not: "Getting bent, you fucking asshole."? When comity is only honored up by one side of the aisle, it's learned helplessness.

Mayor Mamdani is a master class on how to get shit done and cut through the ring-wing noise. More Mamdanis and few Gillibrands, please.

Also, this works on their people, but it works on literally nobody else, right?

Like Trump speaking at the Faith and Freedom conference, claiming Democrats were "Godless Communists" who want to ban religion (wait, I thought we were for SHARIA LAW?) and put all Christians in jail. Of course everyone in attendance lapped that shit up, any normal person who hears it thinks it's nuts.

Which makes me think it's either: 1) They've got things rigged so they can win with just 30% of the vote, or 2) They're now so far up their own ass that they don't know the remaining 70% even exists.

I thought I had seen every Nick Lutsko video but somehow I had missed that one, thanks!

I'm not convinced all of these hot takes come from people who are purely playing dumb. That they're recommendations coming from Zohran and not mandates is probably understood and disingenuously ignored. It may well be, though, that some of these leaders have no clue their administration has made the same requests of its constituents. They're not complete idiots, but they're not our best and brightest either.

It's all they have: pretend victim hood.

I wholeheartedly never considered the question of “why” when it comes the integrity of the grid system in the summer. Admittedly, I do try to adjust my thermostat when the summer suggestions come out but I could be better though I live in the South. Will definitely be inquiring about our own grid integrity though. #keepingmethinking

The new plug n play solar power technology should really relieve strain on the power grid. These are affordable solar panels that anyone can put anywhere (like on your rented apartment's balcony) and plug into any outlet, no need for expert installation. They provide a local infusion of power that you supplement from the grid as needed. If enough people have them, they can substantially stabilize the grid. And if the grid goes out, you have local power.
