Its closest counterpart is the Original Nazi assault on the culture of the Weimar Republic, but that was confined to one nation with the technology of the 1930s, and this is effectively global, inflicted by a ruling class that thanks to 21st Century technology -- especially weaponized AI fulfilling the purpose for which it was invented-- is able to attack on a literal infinity of fronts and is therefore truly omnipotent. But thanks to capitalism's cult of mandatory optimism, the Moronic Majority obviously remains oblivious to the threat even after the triumphant "we're all Nazis" declarations by the high-tech Übermenschen and their Zieg Heils of approval for ChristoNazism and Führer Trump -- which is why the possibility of actually restoring constitutional governance becomes increasingly doubtful despite the claims to the contrary. Ultimately our species has fallen prey to patriarchy's most malignant Big Lie: that the curve of its history arcs toward justice. There is a curve, but it is indistinguishable from the curve of technological advance, and under patriarchy that curve arcs uniformly and with ever-increasing momentum exclusively toward ever-more-inescapable tyranny, precisely as we see not only in the Netflix case, but throughout present-day human society. Nevertheless I feel we must fight on, if only to deny the enemies of humanity the affirmation of surrender.
