In their own way, conservatives and transphobes reveal that they are acutely aware that gender is constructed, but they want to use that construct to constrain rather than liberate.

Incredible breakdown and concise examples showing the insanity that’s been proliferating amongst the right wing groups. I’ll surely be sharing this around.

I think the biggest problem is that we judge people based on their looks when we should be judging them based on their actions.

Parker, thanks for explaining where the TERFs got their bizarre idea that transwomen are somehow a threat to women's rights, and the weird "women are being erased!" propaganda line, they vomit. I tell them "the enemy is the religious, misogynistic, Patriarchy, and why would you turn down natural allies? Is that some sick "purity test"? And, as I understood Feminism, we wanted equality, but they seem to want superiority. More people having rights is equality, thus more feministic.

I have not been following the extreme trans-erasing movement that is “investigating” actors. Thanks for describing the crazy allegations. Sean Connery is not male enough now? The plan by the Family Research Council, or whatever they call themselves, is scary but apparently effective for a substantial percentage of people in the USA. The Bud Light fiasco shows how effective it is.

It's bad enough that these people who spend hours trying to separate men from women on the basis of appearance and, as you noted, seem to be obsessed with genitalia, apparently don't have a life. They shouldn't get to dictate whether the trans community can have one too.

In the late 1970s, I used to ride to work with a much older guy named Howard. One morning, the news on the radio was of Anita Bryant's anti-gay campaign. Howard said, "Why does she want to harass people for ... nothing?" I agreed with him that it was terrible, and in fact I later joined a protest against Bryant's appearance at the Medinah Temple.

There are still a lot of people who want to give people hell for nothing. With the Obergefell decision, I thought the trolls had gone back under their bridges, but unfortunately they are back with their essentially meaningless slogans like "gender ideology," as previously they condemned the "gay lifestyle."

What is really going on with these attacks and slogans is not free speech or discussion. They are nothing more than a prelude to persecution and ultimately mass murder. They must be fought.

Now I'm wondering if sheer ridiculousness is some sort of deliberate strategy, a way of keeping other people from taking you (and the threat you pose) seriously until it's too late. I don't know how else to explain "Sean Connery is actually a woman because he has soft, round muscles."

I have to share this widely as this connects so many dots in the dehumanization of my fellow human beings. The right media and extremist make bank on these narratives in a never ending loop. Hitler dehumanized gypsies, disabled, gay, and jews for a decade before the ovens. This is flaming facism.

As an oldster, I often wonder who the transvestigators would have harassed in prior decades. Hermione Gingold? Ethel Merman? Julia Child?
