A new playbook from the Reuters Institute lays out concrete techniques for covering authoritarian politicians. The problem isn't figuring out what to do — it's getting anyone to actually do it.
Noted framing issues aside and agreed upon, this does seem like a useful statement of principles, if a bit self-evident. I just hope we're not too far gone to appreciate it. What good is fact checking when a certain portion of the population regards facts themselves as a form of "bias?" I don't want to be downright defeatist, but we're in a really tough spot fighting against the torrents of misinformation pouring out on the daily. Where do we go when people aren't merely susceptible to believing the lies, but willing to do so?
This is excellent, but I kept looking for the answer to the question in the headline: Why don't they do these things to improve their reporting? And then there's the answer in the second item: The billionaire boss tells 'em they can't.
A recent Gallup/Axios poll on share of Americans who say they have a great deal of trust in the media.
All Americans = 28%
Independents = 27%
Republicans = 8%
Democrats = 51%
The hilarity of the continued Democrat claim that the media is not reporting on lies by Trump after the same media promulgated the lie of Trump Russia collusions, Hunter's laptop and many other manufactured memes clearly designed to negative brand and character assassinate Trump, his supporters and Republicans in general.... well, it is profound.
No... media people are no longer credible for their filtering of truth vs lie. We can see that it is only a hidden Democrat agenda backing media manipulation... exciting the easily excitable with emotive confirmation bias. Why does the Democrat demand that her adopted media view is the truth? Because it makes her feel good and having to accept the alternative media view will make her feel bad.
Unfortunately, with respect to politics, the truth is more often contained in the view that makes a Democrat feel bad.
Are you reading the comments here, CBS? Bend over backwards to please Donald Trump and what's the response from his superfans? "Librulbias! Librulbias!" But you just keep bending, Frank here will let you know when it's enough (never)

The only "bending over" that CBS is involved in includes paying lawsuit settlements to Trump for dishonest reporting.
I liked Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights AND FRANK DON'T READ WHAT PARKER WRITES
I generally read it twice to make sure my draw dropping is justified.
